Sport was the winner on the day

I've been meaning to update this for ages but my flatmate's computer is so slow! Grrr!

Quick update:

Christmas - at home with my family, christmas dinner at my aunty's (always pays to be related to a caterer), lots of pressies, good times.

New year - camping, Cardrona valley, toasting marshmallows, cooking damper, drinking sparkling grape juice from plastic mugs.

Since then - back in Dunedin, various goose chases with Studylink & the university after not receiving my student loan since November, very hoha (annoying).

Now - just chillin!

Superbowl Monday!

L-R: Malcolm, new flatmate yankee Liz, G, me & Jeremy

On Monday morning, the Denver Broncos played the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL finals. Liz (our new flatmate) is from Boulder so we went out to a friend of Jeremy's at 9am to watch the game.

I don't understand football much but I do like being a crazy football fan. Here is my game face:

It is a very confusing game but I think I got the general gist of it. It is looong, a quarter takes 15 minutes but because the game stops after every 'play' it can go for up to 4 hours!

Unfortunately the Broncos suffered a pitifull defeat but sport was the winner on the day.

Something that wasn't a winner on the day... rubbish trucks. I took this photo on the way back from the football:

The back end of the truck is on the ground and you can't see it very well but it's back wheels are suspended in the air. Doh!

More in sports news

My flatmates and I are entering the Blokefree Triathalon next month. Hmmm, slightly ambitious on my part but maybe I won't die!

Training is interesting, (everything hurts, I'm exhausted and I eat like a hobbit) but everyday I am proud of myself for achieving some little feat that is probably real easy for most other people. Let's see:

  • I've riden a bike through Dunedin traffic for the first time.
  • Biking looong distances (North East Valley and back!)
  • Running in general (even if only for ten minutes or so). I hate running!!!
  • Today I managed to bike half way up Osbourne terrace. Anyone who has been to my place knows how steep that is.
  • And today at the pool I had old ladies oohing and aahing while I did chin ups on the diving board.

I'm still going to die though. ;-)

Music: Liz is downstairs singing and playing the piano
