I can't think of a title for this one
Well, I had work from Friday evening till Saturday, in the kitchen for the PACI wananga. It was very busy and I only got about 4 hours sleep on Friday night (we had to be up at 5:30 on Saturday morning, a truely horrible time of the morning) but actually it wasn't too bad. It's a lot better with smaller numbers in the kitchen.
It was Jo's birthday yesterday. I had organised a not-so-surprise lunch (So, I was tired and it was very last minute and I just didn't have the time to invite people secretly, it was just easier to ask Jo for her cell phone and to ask who were good friends who lived in Dunedin) at Tokyo Gardens for Jo and invited some of her friends along.
After that we went to see 2 Film Festival movies.
We went to see 'The White Masai'. It is the true story of this Swiss woman, who while on holiday in Kenya, mets a Masai warrior and falls in love with him (love at first sight). She decides to stay in Africa, where she marries her warrior and lives in a mud hut. It was very good. The clash of two cultures is interesting, like the difference between her culture and his culture, where do you find a compromise where one isn't completely trampling on the others culture?
The second movie was 'The Road To Guantanamo'. This was also a true story of 4 friends who journey to Pakistan in 2001 for a wedding and while there decide to travel to Afghanistan where they are captured by the Teleban and imprisoned. Then they are captured by the Americans who assume that they are members of the Teleban and supporters of Osama Bin Laden, they are imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba for 2 and a half years.
It was a good day.
